**What’s the Difference?**

Why use standard deviation and what does it tell us about the data set (population).

Data sets:

A 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

B 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

C 7, 9, 10, 11, 13

For all data sets determine the mean and median.

If we get the same value for the mean and the median for different data sets then does this mean the data sets look the same?

*If these were 3 samples form larger populations what can be inferred about the populations?*

* *

**So we need more statistics!**

By entering these sets of data into your CAS calculator determine the standard deviations for each set.
